Professional Development CoP

The DEC SC Committee has recently released several new tools and resources that can be used to train, prepare, recruit, and retain service coordinators! Given that members of the DEC PD CoP may also be involved in preparing and/or training early intervention service coordinators, we thought it would be fitting to spread the word to this community.  See below for resources you may want to explore.

• SC Tools and Resources for Pre-Service and In-Service Professional Development - Intended for those who design and deliver pre-service instruction and in-service professional development as well as those who lead, teach, prepare and/or train service coordinators in early intervention.

• Service Coordination Workforce Recruitment Tool Kit Overview - Includes pre-packaged materials that can be used to bring awareness to the role of service coordination and to advertise for service coordinator positions.  Materials include some that may be used “as is” while others can be customized for local or programmatic use.

• Service Coordination Retention Resources for Programs/Supervisors- Includes a list of strategies that administrators and program supervisors may consider as they work to retain, support and promote growth and connection within the workforce.

• Narrated “Knowledge and Skills for Service Coordinators (KSSC): A Closer Look” Module - An online module (with reflection guide) adapted from the KSSC: A Closer Look infographic which can be used for preparation and/or ongoing professional development. View the module on YouTube here. Download the module and reflection guide here.
